Default Thoughts on Buying/Selling New/Used Clothes - B&M and Online ?

This is just a rough draft idea I thought I would throw out there to get some feedback. I am a college student, and live near a few decent sized universities (15k students and one with 30k students).

College students always want clothes, but don't want to spend the money for the name brand stuff that costs an arm and a leg.

I was just thinking and came up with an idea I have heard of before, but I only know of one in my area and its rough 30-40 minutes away from me. My idea is to open a B&M store that buys and sells clothing, both new and used. A surplus of the clothing could be sold at the business's online web site.

So .. for the college students out there, and all personal clothing aside (Underwear, Boxers, Swimsuits, etc.) .. What are your thoughts?

Could this be profitable, given the factors ?
College students here at 2+2 who are not ballers .. Would you ever consider buying gently used clothing?

Thanks, appreciate any feedback.

tell those hippies to stop pinching pennies and buy some clothes instead of buying coffee 3x a day and talking about how they are getting screwed by "the man"

The most important thing would be to not get stuck with cuts and sizes that you'll never sell. Though you could just ditch them on eBay.

I'd sugggest looking into also doing textbooks and maybe CDs.

Back in the flea market days I would hit garage sales (in nice areas) and buy up designer KIDS clothes. They were cheap and could easily be re-sold for a nice profit. Once ebay started these kids clothes were a gold mine.

A high school friend of mine had never worked a day in her life. Her husband took care of all the money/finances. All she had to do was cook, clean and get the kids to school. One day her husband didn't come home...and never did return. She was beside herself with worry about paying bills. Her kids wore designer clothes so I told her to hit all the garage sales she could (in nice neighborhoods) and buy up all the designer kid's clothes she could. Her first year she cleared 20K in profit. For her three year total she made 50K or so. Then she met another guy and moved away.
