Default Donking

Why is every bet made into a poster a donk? I can see when it from the poster and they know the results of the hand and it is, in fact, a donk. Otherwise everyone is always repying with "when SB donked, UTG donked, etc.". It seems like a lot of advice is to c-bet or raise to see where you're at, but anytime an opp does it they get labled as a "donker". I don't know why, but this is starting to bug me and I am getting tired of reading it in every post. Maybe since I'm new posting here, I just don't know. I will bet into a raiser or into limpers a lot. I don't know what they have.

Just curious

A donk bet is when someone who was not the last aggressor bets the next street out.

So you raise pre-flop in LP everyone calls and on the flop the BB leads out. That is a donk bet.

I think the confusion is that you're attaching a value judgment to the use of the word "donk" when all it means is what kerowo said. A donk is not necessarily a bad thing. Thus you will sometimes see a question like "should I donk the turn?" in reference to onself and not just a villain.

A donk bet does not mean the person doing it is a donk. If I remember right, there used to be another term for a donk bet that was somewhat offensive.

It's often a good idea such as when you don't know if an earlier aggressor will bet, or you think you can get more money in the pot by bet/3betting rather than check/raising.

Ah ha. That's why I asked. That clears it up. I was inferring that the person doing it was being referred to as a donkey when it is not the case.

Thanks

The other term was a tad on the homophobic side and was primarily meant to be derogatory.
