Idealogically : Change the entire educational system of the world.

Monetarily : Billionaire

Amibitionally : Create a few multi hundred-million dollar corporations.

Personally : Have a loving family and create a Rockefeller type legacy.

That's where I want to end up. Kind of out there, but never hurts to think big.

just so I'm clear, total freedom doesn't mean I won't do anything or won't have responsibilities. It just means I get to freely choose exactly what I will do and what my responsibilities are. Henry17 seems to know what I'm saying.

You are already there. There will always be obligations that you don't get to control. Whether you choose to ignore these or not has nothing to do with money.

More money will give you more options, but no more freedom and no less responsibility.

If freedom is your only goal then you could go the other way - remove all choice through poverty and let fate take it's course. It's a type of freedom - freedom from choice & freedom from control.

Does total freedom mean that you will not be bound by any legal system? I suppose you are free to break the law anyways, but you will end up losing a lot of your freedom as a result. If you want to become untouchable by the long arm of the law, then your goal seems a little tricky.

Don't you have this freedom already?

What is stopping everyone from having this freedom besides excuses?

I still don't understand.

Do you have a job you dislike waking up to everyday?
Do you have money problems?
Are you constantly time constrainted?

What is making you feel that you don't have the freedom you currently are looking for?

I don't have the freedom to work the job that I want. I don't have the freedom to live in the house that I want or go on vacation to the places that I want to go. I don't have the freedom to give the money that I would like to give or to start the business that I want to start. Maybe by freedom what I really mean is unlimited options.

there's only one thing i want to be free of, and that is choices based upon fear

if i am able to make my decision based on anything but fear, i feel good, if i base my decisions on fear, i [censored] [censored] up so bad it's not even funny

i don't mind being afraid... you're crazy if you're not afraid, but if you can make you choices independent of fear, i think you have come close to what this thread is meandering toward

My #1 goal in life is to acquire freedom.....I want the end of my life to be 100% freedom where the only responsibilities are ones that I want to take on.

[/ QUOTE ]

this is essentially my life right now and i'm bored out of my mind. i've been doing "nothing" for a year and a half now and though i don't like it, i also can't imagine getting up every morning and going to work either. this is causing me some distress because from the time i was in high school on i've loved every job i've ever had - including pumping gas and parking cars - and yet now it feels like that will to work has just evaporated. i hope it magically appears some day soon.

[/ QUOTE ]

You have discovered that money does not equal happiness, congrats. Now go figure out what you enjoy doing and do it. Nothing appears magically but you are fortunate that you get several free spins of the life wheel.
