Default Laptop power adapter weirdness

I moved into a new room and my laptop was working fine till I noticed it was running on the battery even though it was plugged in. I checked the connections and realized that there was this weird beeping/clicking noise coming from the AC adaptor brick. I tried plugging it in different power outlets with the same results. (The power adapter makes no noise when its not plugged into the laptop).

This same thing happened to my other laptop today! I won't be able to use my laptops once the batteries run out.

Some more information:
> Both AC adapters were plugged into the same power strip/surge guard
> Both adapters are for Toshiba laptops
> The AC adaptors have different output voltage/current specifications

Do you think both adaptors have been fried by some sort of voltage surge or electrical storm (these things happened on diffrent days)? Anything I can do? Or will I have to order 2 new AC adaptors?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you dropped or done anything strange with the adapters recently?

Have you checked the connections on the laptop itself and then the power supply as well?

For instance, on my dell the connector to the laptop is a circular casing with a single pin. The pin got bent slightly and it wouldn't charge the batteries anymore, but still powered the computer itself.

You will probrably just need to get new adapters.

Nope, haven't dropped them or anything like that.
Checked all connections.

Yeah, I guess I'll have to get new adapters. Sucks tho, 'cuz surge guards are supposed to prevent exactly this.
