Default Boston-area day trip skiing recommendations

I'm going up to see my brothers in Boston (one's in Boston, the other in Framingham) this weekend. We'd like to take a day trip skiing over the weekend. We're all beginners, so quality of the mountain is not terribly important to us. We're more looking for something that's decent and less than a 2 hour drive from the area. My brother had heard of Wachusett and Franconia Notch. We have no idea what else is around.

Thanks!

Wachusett in Princeton.

It will be all loose, granular crap though. They have no real snow.

Loon Mountain may be an option too.

Wachusett should work for you. About 45 minutes from Framingham area, and decent size for beginners.

good point by 27, no good snow unless you go north.
You can get to Mt Snow, Stratton, or Okemo in under 2.5 hours...Killington in about 3...

Dunno how it stacks up, but it's where I went during school, about 3 hours away from Boston. Sunday River

Wachusett is a perfect beginner's mountain and also very convenient. They also have night skiing.

I guess I 4th Wachusett, I used to race there. much better than Nashoba Valley. if you want to drive another hour or so, go to Loon or Waterville Valley, which are much better but crowded.

however, conditions are really bad right now. I just got back from Northern Vermont (Stowe, Jay Peak) and the only great snow was on the closed trails.
