if the Red Birds pitch Carp in game two, they might win two games, otherwise it's Mets in 5.

Throw some money on that.

Unlikely, as that would require him to actually believe the crap that he's spewing.

As a Mets fan, I think we'll take the series in 6 or 7, but why wouldn't he believe what he said?

Mets rotation is better (or at least, better suited for this series given the vs. lefty splits from the Cardinals foursome), Mets bullpen is better, and Mets lineup is better, no?

The wild card is that the Cardinals have the only ace on either staff. Win his games, steal another one or two from the other guys, and we have ourselves a 7 game roller coaster.

NYM's lineup is SLIGHTLY better than SD's, at least in my own crap spewing opinion.

As far as a bet, provide me with some sort of indication if Carp is pitching game 2 or game 3 and a link to a ML on the Mets in 5, and I will offer you a noticablely better price. Let's do it.

A little note on the three game series that the mets swept the cards towards the end of the season.

Mulder and Marquis both started a game. Izzy blew a save. None of them on the roster.

[/ QUOTE ]

Fair point. But Suppan and Weaver did face the Mets this year and got blasted pretty good. And those guys are potentially pitching 4 of 7 games. (Ok, probably only 3)

sportsbook.com will have the odds of each team winning in exact games up soon. They did for all the other series thus far.

For the series as a whole, the moneyline is between -170 and -180 Mets

Guys,

Despite Weaver's last start, I feel sick about having him be a potential pivotal starter in a playoff series. I'm much more inclined to believe his last start was variance-filled goodness and all of his previous starts were the true Weaver than the other way around.

Of course I'm rooting hard for the Cards, but I'm not delusional. Any pitcher other than Carp starts, and I'm a nervous wreck from the very first pitch. Any time the Mets get into the Card's 'pen, and I'm a nervous wreck.

And I'll still love every second of it. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] playoff baseball.

On the Mets in 5 statement. I don't see this being completely outlandish. I don't think it will be in 5, but if there is a team that can catch lightning in a bottle it is the New York Mets. Their lineup allows for this. With the whole Perez and Maine ordeal, I'll stick with what I said in game 1, young and dumb. Maybe their adrenaline will just carry them. If not, well Willie will have to do some of that magic he does when he goes to the bullpen.

Thank you reality and sensibility from a Cards fan. Finally.

Carp and Pujols are absolutely sick in their overall talent and clutchness. They are gonna give the Mets a little scare, but the Mets lineup is too good, along with the fact that IMO the Mets starters are just better after you get past Carp.

GL to the Cards though, I like to see any and all NY teams get beat.

Series Prediction

Game 1:
Albert Pujols will go 4 for 4 with 4 homeruns. Unfortunately for the Cardinals Jeff Weaver will give up 5 runs in the 1st inning and hit 3 batters. The Cardinals will have only 3 other baserunners all game.
Final Score: Mets 8, Cardinals 4...W:Glavine/L:Weaver

Game 2:
John Maine will surprise everyone and throw a gem, going 7 innings and only allowing 2 runs, both on solo shots to Albert Pujols. David Wright and Beltran will both take Suppan deep and Endy Chavez will have a cltuch opposite field single to drive in 2 tack on runs.
Final Score: Mets 5, Cardinals 2
...W:Maine/L:Suppan/S:Wagner

Game 3:
Trachsel will pitch like crap as usual and Carpenter will pitch a shutout through 6. Cardinals other than Albert Pujols will drive in runs. Braden Looper will throw 3 [censored] innings to end the game for a save
Final Score: Cardinals 9, Mets 2
...W:Carpenter/L:Trachsel/S:Looper

Game 4:
Oliver Perez will walk 3 batters and give up 5 doubles in the 1st inning while retiring only 1 batter. The Metes will sratch and claw vs Reyes and eventually take the lead vs Tyler Johnson on a basehit by Endy Chavez. Wagner will walk 3 Cardinals in the 9th including Pujols but strike out Jim Edmonds with the bases loaded.
Final Score: Mets 9, Cardinals 8
...W:Mota/L:Johnson/S:Wagner

Game 5:
Glavine will pitch a gem but Wagner will unfortunately walk a batter, hit a batter and then give up a game winning 3 run shot to Albert Pujols in the bottom of the 9th. shifting the series back to Shea. Jeff Weaver will somehow pitch a surprising 7 innings of 1 run ball. The Mets will have a team meeting after the game because getting shutdown by a pitcher this [censored] will be very embarassing.
Final Score: Cardinals 4, Mets 3...W:Wainright/L:Wagner

Game 6:
John Maine and Jeff Suppan will both give their teams 6 innings of 3 run ball. Albetr Pujols will homer in the top of the 7th off Aaron Heilman to give the Mets the lead but Endy Chavez will single, steal second and score on a Lo Duca single to tie it at 4. The game will go into extra innings and the Met pen will shine allowing nothing more than 3 Intentional Bases Empty Walks to Pujols. The Cardinals pen will get into a few james but Julio Franco will pinch hit and hit into a DP to end a particular threat in the 12th. The Cardinals will take a 5-4 lead in the top of the 17th when Albert Pujols walks against Roberto Hernandez with the Bases Loaded. Having no other opptions, the Cardinals will have Braden Looper pitch the bottom of the 17th. That being said...
Final Score: Mets 6, Cardinals 5...W:Hernandez/L:Looper
There were 0 outs when the winning run scored

Mets win series 4 games to 2

When you place bets on this series you can send all your thank you notes to me.

LoL. Did Pujols just hit 6 home runs and the Mets still win the series?

Edit: Ahh...they were all solo shots. My bad.
