So why on earth would you say what you did? Don't be a hater. Think of hobbies people have that let you know they suck. Contribute to the thead, man - that's what it's all about!

Generally hobbies are good. Addiction to a virtual world is not a hobby. Judging people based on hobbies sucks. Simple enough?

Who gave you the right to redefine the word "hobby?" I wish I could do that sometimes. Like for "chlamydia."

Posting excessively on message boards, perhaps. But then, what's excessive? It's really a judgment call.

Heater, a lot of people who geocache do indeed suck. But some go for other reasons. I don't go often, (maybe 4-5 times a year) and I use it as an excuse to get outside and away and still have a goal to reach, rather than aimlessly wandering around. You mentioned that he found something "out in the middle of nowhere." Getting out in the middle of nowhere is the whole point for some people. I work in an office and a few times a year it's nice to get as far away as possible from it. I do agree that the people who geocache in parks and get all excited about plastic ishit in containers are lame and no better than Everquest groupies. Just know that some people incorporate it into hardcore adventure activities.

I understand what you're saying. Don't get me wrong. I love the outdoors and if this was something that involved going somewhere interesting it would be a whole different story. I just think that getting excited about finding some little trinket in a box and telling all your friends about all of the places that little trinket has been is pretty strange behavior for a guy in his early twenties. My roommate went to a small public park less than two miles from our home today. He drove his car there. I don't see the point.

Star Wars/Star Trek conventions. I liked the movies and shows, but leave it at that.

Is this normal behavior for an adult male?
