Re: Unionized dealers at Foxwoods?
I can't comment on the details of what Unionizing will get them but my father works @ Foxwoods (not as a dealer) as has said that the workers supporting this are going to get screwed (he didn't provide much beyond that, but I'm assuming he knows at least something regarding details).
From a workers benefits standpoint, from my understanding, foxwoods doesn't treat their employees very well. Some of their practices and policies have made it very difficult to retain any semblance of quality in their workforce (again, from info my dad's given me). -Lazlo... |

link It looks like dealer at Foxwoods are pushing to unionize. Obviously good for them, but potentially bad for rake?? Are Vegas casinos union? What about other places? [/ QUOTE ] Yes I agree. We've been getting away with a lot with only a 4$ rake and that can't last. Numerous dealers (and a former dealer who now works for the Mirage) have told me that they hate how the casino treats them. |

Re: Unionized dealers at Foxwoods?
I do work there as a dual rate floor/dealer in the pits. As of right now no one knows when and if the union will actually come. Employess have been signing cards for quite some time but there is still no mention of an answer.
On a side note there is a very strong rumor that poker dealers will start keeping their own tokes starting in January. I read alot on here about how everyone says Foxwoods dealers suck so this may help that situation somewhat. |

[/ QUOTE ] Quite a number of years ago(12 or so) i was emailed by a woman who was a poker dealer at foxwoods...she asked me my thoughts on "keeping your own" as this issue was coming up for a vote by the dealers, she wanted to be able to convince others this would be a good idea. The eventuality is that "keep your own" was defeated , by the dealer vote then, and at least one other time since.( as i understand it) Is this going to a voted on issue? By whom? |

id like to see how the quality of dealers goes up once they keep their own tips, because most of them suck.

[/ QUOTE ] I am pretty sure a dealer at Foxwoods could make enough for it to be worthwhile to work there if they could keep there own tips. I have had limited dealings with their dealers. I have had a few audition for me over the years. Every dealer form their that has auditioned for me I have referred to a dealer's school because they were less proficient than dealers coming out of school in the west. This is a very small sample, about 10 over the years. |

Re: Unionized dealers at Foxwoods?
diano ross fan, I believe the rake is $5 per half hour? At hte 1/2 game anyway. A dollar difference but it is a difference.
In the past 6 months they installed these red overhead lights that come on when time is owed. One time I was playing and it didnt go off for 90 min but every other time it's been like clockwork. |
