Default using forums from two computers

... is annoying as hell.
every time i switch computers, i am logged out from the forum (which is understandable, since i am accessing it from a different ip), but when i click on "login", i am instead directed to the forum index (not logged in, obv). only way around it is either close the browser or manually go to logout.php.
im using firefox on both computers.

I do this all the time using firefox. What I do is when I switch computers, if 2+2 is still running on the new computer, I click the logout before doing anything else, re-login and then I am off and running.

This doesn't happen with IE.

On a side note, I run several large websites and we were constantly dealing with nitty FF issues.

ya, FF if nitty on cookies. I'll take that any day over general IE non-tabbed, <insert spyware here> browsing.

Yes, FF isn't invunerable and needs constant security updates. The difference is a "fully patched" IE has 40+ holes compared to FF's ummmmm <40 unpatched holes. Neither is perfect, both depend on system configuration, but FF(EV) > IE(EV) for chances of getting compromised for most users.

Use standard html and your sites will work in both IE and firefox.

bump again.
its still there, its still annoying.
if you cant fix it, could you at least change the login link in the sidebar to 'logout.php'? it redirects to the same page, but logout.php purges the whats left of your previous session.

You shouldn't have to relogin every time you switch computers. Are you clicking the "remember me" box on the login screen? This will allow you to stay logged in and only have to relogin every couple weeks when the cookies expire.

UBB only allows one valid session at a time per user.

You cannot be logged in two places at the same time, whether that is on two separate machines, or two different browsers on the same machine.

The moment you log in from someplace else, any other session that was open is invalid.
