.25/.50 vs. .5/1 microlimits....
A week ago or so, I stated that I was making twice as much as I did playing .25/.50 than .5/1. While I still don't have a sufficient sample size, the evidence seems to point that way. After 3000 hands on each, I am making 3.5BB on .25/50 and .7BB on .5/1. Apparently I'm not alone, according to Glenn on Felicia's blog page:
Omaha 8-or-better? $0.76/hr at $0.5/$1 levels; but twice that at $0.25/$0.5! My own observations are: - I find my opponents in .25/.50 tend to be calling stations and often mis-read hands. - It is almost guranteed that a player will chase a backdoor low draw against a made hand, or call with two pair down the river. This still occurs in .5/1 but much less so. - My opponents begin to tighten up expotentially in .5/1 (at least on PS) Input? |

Glad to hear I'm not the only one either
(this is Glenn, for those who don't know) Of course, a big thing for me is table selection and I just find that many more good games at the $0.25/0.5 level than at the $0.5/1 level. I'm always looking for tables that have 10x the BB in ave pot sizes and it's hard to find a $0.5/1 table with that type of average lately; prolly better on the weekends, but if you're grinding daily, then you're trying to find games during the week as well. |

Re: .25/.50 vs. .5/1 microlimits....
I've been taking a look at the Party Poker tables which have a comparable amount of idiots at .5/1, but it seems anytime I put my money there, it seems to disappear due to being drawn out by someone with the second or even third nuts to any sort of draw. Same thing happened to me while playing Hold'em there.
On PS, I've been hesitant to move up to .5/1 even though my bankroll easily allows. I'm tempted to give it another try on Party if they extended the resiable table feature to o8. |

Re: .25/.50 vs. .5/1 microlimits....
play 20,000 more hands at each level and then think about comparing.
i certainly hope by then that you're beating the snot out of each of these games and/or have moved up. |

If my math is correct, making twice the BB/hr at half the stakes works out to equal wins in dollars. |

Re: .25/.50 vs. .5/1 microlimits....
Personally, my post was what I was making purely in dollars/hour, _not_ BB/hr ...
So, no math involved there... |
