Default Top pair turn fold heads up

Villain is 43/8/.7 and usually passive but capable of semi-bluff raising both the flop and the turn heads up.

Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
3 folds, Button calls, 1 fold, Hero checks.

Flop: (2.50 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets, Hero raises, Button 3-bets, Hero calls.

Turn: (4.25 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets, Hero folds.

Final Pot: 5.25 BB

What do you think?

Do you fold to a turn or a river bet if a spade doesn't hit and he keeps firing?

Thanks,
Cartman

I would've bet the flop and taken it from there.

Oops, it's actually part 3. The first two laws are mysteries to me.

I believe the first one is "when a small/mid-stakes opponent bets when an Ace or similarly scary card comes down, he is either bluffing or so strong that he doesn't care about the Ace."

Or something to that effect.

My plan in this type of situation:

I check-call this flop. And then I check-call the turn. And then I bet the river if the board hasn't gotten too scary.

Flop is more likely to have missed villian than hit him. Therefore, I play my hand as if he has missed and try to extract maximum value from a missed hand. Check-calling the flop/turn gains good value from his bluffs. Betting the river gets value from hands that might have caught a piece along the way (or hit on the flop). Sometimes he will check behind on the turn, but that's OK because he likely has squat and I don't mind giving him a free chance to pair up on the river.

I only do this when I flop top or 2nd pair, and my pair is Jacks/Queens/Kings/Aces.
