Default An excellent suggestion.

Hi Everybody - Troll made an excellent suggestion. He wondered:[ QUOTE ]
If we put together a links of threads for the forum, will you put it in the Faq?

[/ QUOTE ]I replied[ QUOTE ]
Yes.
.
But I want to give everyone who is a prominent poster here a chance to participate in putting together the threads. And I'll give you all credit in the FAQ.

[/ QUOTE ]I am incapable of writing a FAQ well by myself.

If I'm going to sticky post a FAQ written by the posters here, I want it to represent the principle different points of view expressed here.

You can respond to this directly or respond to me by private message.

If you don't want to participate, that's fine. At least you will have been given the opportunity.

Thanks.

RoundTower - Good point.

How to do the FAQ seems to be gradually formulating and evolving.

One of the first smart things I did when I became mod was read "the well" threads by you, RoundTower, therempel, and cmyr. (Those were the only "the well:" threads in this forum I could locate using the search function). If anyone can point me at any others, I'm all ears.

Those three "the well:" posts were all excellent threads, in my humble opinion.

They were excellent threads because they contained some excellent posts. But of course not all the posts within those threads are suitable for posting as a FAQ sticky.

My thinking at this point is I'd like to choose the excellent posts within those and also other threads for a FAQ sticky. To qualify, a post has to fall within the frequently asked questions category.

I read the threads in Troll's list except two (the one about Old school WWF which didn't seem to have much to do with Omaha and the one about Straight vs flush draw which seemed to have a faulty URL). There were, in my humble opinion, some excellent posts within some of those threads. Troll has given us a good place to start. Thanks Troll.

But as I think about it more, and after having read the threads in Troll's list, it seems we're not looking for a list of threads particularly, but rather various posts containing the simple answers to frequently asked questions within threads. An obvious problem is people's opinions differ as to what the answers are. Since I want the FAQ to be objective, I'm not sure how exactly to handle that at this point.

It would be helpful to me at this time to have a list of posts that do an excellent job of answering frequently asked questions. And if something is controversial, I'd like opposing points of view.

At any rate, thanks for the suggestions thus far. I want to have an open mind about this, and I think I do have an open mind about this. I hope we can continue to make progress. I need continued input.

I can't quite see clearly yet how to write the FAQ, but it's as though the fog is thinning.
