Default Anyone in Vegas over Columbus Day 10/4-10/7?

Room list for anyone intersted in poker rates
http://www.allvegaspoker.com/poker_rates.php

Anyway, is anyone going out? I have a few friends who are expressing interest. How does this weekend compare to other holiday weekends in terms of game selection? I'll be playing 1-2/2-5 so the games are generally always good but I was wondering if they were any better this weekend.

*hijack*

I hate the Government, they have almost everyone convinced that Columbus day is ANY other day other than October 12th! They ruined my b-day, that's for sure!

I'm going. I'll be in the $10-20 and $20-40 LHE at Mirage and $15-30 at Bellagio and Wynn.

I'm shocked at how many places are already sold out and how much the remaining places cost. Dumps like Trop average $160 for the three nights(garden rooms no less) and IP and Hooters and Ex are all over $200 a night average for the three nights. I booked at Orleans a few months ago when rooms where $130 for the Friday and Saturday and $80 on the Sunday. I'm plenty happy I did because its about $120 more than that for the three nights now.

Yeah that's strange, since it's not a holiday for most people.

All the weekends in October seem to be expensive. I noticed this a couple months ago when a friend said he was coming out in mid-October for someone's birthday party and he was asking if I could suggest cheap places since everything he was finding was outrageously priced. He ended up deciding if cheap rooms were gonna be $150, he might as well pay $200 for an MGM Signature room (which he booked directly with the owner, not through MGM).

Yeah I'm coming the weekend of Oct 13th and all hotels seem booked and expensive.

Does that usually lead to more full poker rooms?
Does traffic in poker rooms usually pick up in October after the end of the WSOP and summer slowdown?

Columbus Day is a weird one. I've never had it off until I started working for my current company a couple of years ago. I'm outside of LA, but our home office is near Boston. I thought is was strange when I found out we got that one off but not Veterans Day. More of an east coast thing?

Anyway, summer ends and convention season begins. At the nicer places a summer Fri/Sat rate starts to pop up as the midweek rate. Weekend rates in the fall can get crazy.
