Default OT: Who has done ICM by hand?

I was inspired by this: [ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
What fraction of regular STTF posters could perform an SNGPT-type calculation given an ICM calculator, PokerStove, and a TI-83?

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know, Ive never in my life done one by hand.

[/ QUOTE ]

Edit: This isn't to say "good players do them, and bad ones can't." I'm just curious if anyone does this still. I've never used SNGwiz but it sounds like it does most functions you'd need.

I'm sure that if I really had to, I could do it. NewtBuggs does it all the time or at least did on occasion.

I used to do it a fair amount before Eastbay invented the light bulb.

Of course, "by hand" means using an ICM calculator. Back in the day we didn't call it "by hand" cause you still used an ICM calculator. Really by hand would take a long long long time.

Actually the thing that I did with SNGPT that I really couldn't have done reasonably with just the ICM calc is find the Nash Equilibrium. Do people still do that? They don't talk about it in the censored thread.

I'd say you should be able to do it by hand before you purchase SNGPT.

The real question is who can do the ICM without Pokerstove??

i disagree completely.

if you are dumb and do not understand what the programs do thats fine.

but if you have general poker knowledge and understand the implications of nearing the payouts, doing icm is a complete waste of time. this is a fact.

My poker instincts are terrible so I do them all the time. Usually real fast after I play a questionable hand.
