BTW I'm in the Bay Area about once a year or so visiting family so who knows maybe I can get free for a drink or something.

OMG it's 9:51 I'm stuck at work and starving, and for some reason I finally decided to read this thread.

The only mexican restaurant anywhere close to where I am is Taco Bell and that sure as hell does not qualify.

(OK there's a decent El Paso Restaurant here, too ... not great, though.)
