Stupid Wii widescreen question

WS TVs are in 16:9. Almost all films shot today are shot in 2.35:1. I have no idea why WS TVs arent in 2.35:1 considering this.

Ah ok, so since the majority are not in the WS exact format, the bars are present. I guess every now and then someone does make it the proper size, every once in a while one will fill the screen without hitting zoom.
