10NL -AKs commit on this hand?
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (9 handed) Hand History converter Courtesy of PokerZion.com
saw flop|saw showdown MP3 ($6.05) CO ($7) Button ($8.15) SB ($9.25) BB ($6.65) UTG ($8.95) Hero ($10) MP1 ($10) MP2 ($15.55) Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero calls $0.10, MP1 calls $0.10, MP2 raises to $0.4, MP3 calls $0.40, 3 folds, BB calls $0.30, Hero calls $0.30, MP1 folds. The 2 later position players were each going to war with weak aces. Both raising preflop with weak Ax type of holdings. I was hoping to catch one of them with a weaker ace. Tight villian from MP2 raises and Im sure he has a real hand. Flop: ($1.75) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) BB checks, Hero bets $1.5, MP2 raises to $3, MP3 folds, BB folds, Hero raises to $9.6, MP2 calls $6.60. On the flop my SPR is 5.5 vs MP2. PNL suggests an SPR of 2 with TPTK vs tighter players. As for a range I was thinking AA or QQ both have me in bad shape. AK is possible and KQs is probably not getting a raise preflop from this villian. My initial flop bet of $1.50 is probably a bit high but straight draws are possible. Once Im raised I decided to commit. Do you guys ever decide to commit even though the info looks like it could be bad?? Results are not posted but you don't need to be an expert to see that Im probably getting my money in the middle with the worst of it. Thanks for any feedback |

Re: 10NL -AKs commit on this hand?
I strongly advocate raising AK preflop so that post-flop decisions are easier. If you're gonna limp, then 3-bet MP2 to like...$2. At NL10 you'll see AK, AQ, JJ, and possibly AJ/J10 enough times to make this call +EV.

[ QUOTE ]
Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with K, A. 1 fold, Hero calls $0.10, MP1 calls $0.10, MP2 raises to $0.4, MP3 calls $0.40, 3 folds, BB calls $0.30, Hero calls $0.30, MP1 folds. [/ QUOTE ] If you open limp AKs, then limp/rr to $1.5 or $2. Fold if MP2 pushes or 3-bets big. I hate the limp/call line. You set up a multi-way pot without knowing more about MP2's hand. You do have fairly good relative position, but to take advantage of that you would need to check the flop instead of donk bet it. And open raise is good, too. If you are not a fan of limp/rr with big pairs, then just open raise AKs. Personally, since I like limp/rr (or small raise/rr) with aces, I frequently do the same with AK. But I'd rather limp/fold here preflop than limp/call. preflop open raise > limp/reraise > limp/fold > limp/call/check > limp/call/donk If you are a limp/reraiser with AA, or if you like to small-raise in EP with things like mid-pairs to prime the pot, then to balance those plays you'll need to limp/reraise AK/AA, or sometimes small-raise/reraise AKs/AA. But as played (limp/call, then donk bet TPTK), the best you are going to do with MP2 once he min-raises is chop. He has AK, AA, KK, QQ, or KQs. I think you can fold when he min-raises your donk bet. |

Re: 10NL -AKs commit on this hand?
please dont open limp and then call a raise pf with AKs. I think that youve made the rest of this hand difficult to play here by doing this. You now have no information about villains hand because you have not forced him to define it, and an SPR youre saying that youd prefer not to have with TPTK against villain.
