Default Need some Host Gator help

I recently signed up with HostGator and I'm having trouble getting my second domain going. Here's the basics (with made up URLs)...

My account is under mymaindomain.com. That site works fine.
I have my2nddomain.com registered and pointed to HostGator over a week ago. I put it as an Addon Domain. Now, here's my problem.
I've tried FTPing to just about every folder possible and I can't seem to find the one that will make my site show up on www.my2nddomain.com. I get a really, really long page load at that URL before finally an error page shows up. www.mymaindomain.com/my2nddomain shows the site, but I can't get it to go under the 2nd domain.

Am I missing a step?

Which folder do I need to put my files in? I thought it was public_html/my2nddomain, but that isn't working.

Yeah, I'll was probably going to check with them tonight if I get a chance, but I've barely been home in 3 days and this was bugging me the whole time. I was hoping for some help by the time I got home from work. Their online help sucks, so I'm going to have to call them up for what should be a pretty easy question that someone with a little HostGator experience can help me with.

Basically, if you have used HostGator, you should be able to tell me if what I am doing sounds right or not at the very least.

create a subdomain..

like if your main site is epicwidgets.com and your new domain is blue.com

make the subdomain blue.epicwidgets.com

I hope that makes sense.

Cheers,

Josh

Okay, I've done that. It says that it'll take a few hours for the change to be made. Once it's ready, my2nddomain.mymaindomain.com and my2nddomain.com will be excatly the same?

EDIT: Nevermind on the question. I see it already redirects from the first one to the second one. Now I'll just ahve to wait. Thanks.
