Default anyone watch The Singing Bee?

http://www.nbc.com/The_Singing_Bee/

(basically, it's like that game Songburst where they give you a song, the band starts playing it, then you have to sing the next line.)

it's lol hosted by that nsync guy with the line beard, but i think it has some potential. it succeded in getting me to sing at my tv.

i thought the range of song selection was pretty reasonable: a good mix of decades, a couple of pop genres.

there's a significant luck factor, because if you get a song you don't know you're boned since most of the songs were easy enough that your opponent is likely to hit if you miss and eliminate you.

it seems to me that having to hit every single word (even small ones that don't matter so much like "well") is harsh, but i guess there's no better way to do it.

they have an online "version" of the game here: http://www.nbc.com/The_Singing_Bee/game/

it was kind of fun once, but the song list isn't very long so there's not a lot of replay value.

finally, like everything, this show will benefit greatly from the ability to fast forward the boring parts. i am training my vcr to pick it up this week.

I will have to DVR it.. I did record "Don't Forget the Lyrics" on Fox (seems a copy cat) and will check that out.

Mad at the online game, I spelled antelope wrong and it didn't give me credit... jerks.

I saw two minutes of it and saw the absolutely ridiculous Final Countdown clip on The Soup. Looks pretty boring with flashes of unintentional comedy.

I watched the rerun of it tonight and thought it was okay. Minor parts were funny. The worst was there wasn't a whole lot to the actual show. I swear, they had at least 5 commercial breaks for the 30 minute episode. It was such a joke.

all the game shows are like this: 1 vs 100, deal or no deal (ugh), etc. this is why i say:

Don't Forget The Lyrics is a much better show, IMO. Like a cross of the Singing Bee and Who Wants To Be a Millionaire. You aren't automatically effed if you screw up a word as long as you catch it after you sing it.

That said, I thought it was at least moderately entertaining when they had one guy get Bye Bye Bye as his song, what with Joey Fatone hosting. I just hope they don't make it a weekly "see if you can screw up the host's multi-platinum song lyrics".

I am not too cool to not know all of the dudes' names from N'Sync and Backstreet Boys, regrettably.
