Default Twins and DRays close to a Garza/Young swap

Two of the most highly touted prospects around. If what I am reading about the D Rays, this would be a win/win.

If the Twins deal Santana and fill in a few holes (OF, 3B, DH or some variation) they could have a very nice looking line-up with some strong young pitching.

My instinct would be NOT to trade both Garza and Santana. Or at least, this reduces the likelihood of trading Santana to LA, who have a number of young OFs. I guess I can't decide if this increases or decreases their leverage with respect to trading Santana.

despite the overall evenness of the deal, i think this is brilliant for the devil rays. this trade addresses two major needs for the rays - starting pitching and infield defense, while dealing from strength. bartlett can keep shortstop warm for reid breignac, and then become a cheap but effective utility player afterwards (or be flipped for something else of need). harris was not much with the glove at short, and at 2nd he became expendable with iwamura's transition.

i think it's also very very good for the twins if they get phil hughes + for santana, even though i am nowhere near as high on young (nor, really, have i ever been) as others.

the DRays are fast becoming a very interesting team that i will be subtlely pulling for.

this trade definitely tips in the favor of the drays

still a good move for both teams

i think the twins could have given less in substitute for rincon, though

i'm still confused y the twins would do this with the impending departure of santana sometime in the next year...i guess this just means more pitching prospects in that deal...

either way, rays come out a little ahead imo

The Rays win the trade and it is not close. Check the MLB offseason thread for reasons why.
