Prison for Lederer, other owners of poker sites?
Howard Lederer and others who own poker sites must be crapping in their pants right now at the prospect of going to prison if they continue to accept the action of U.S. players after Bush signs the bill into law. Those people will need to shut off their sites to American players if they value their health and well-being.
I understand many pro players own stakes in poker sites. I can't think of any who would be able to defend themselves well if they have to engage in shower stall combat! LOL. |

AFAIK the full tilt pros own stakes in Tiltware the company that makes the software. They have no ownership stake in Full Tilt itself

Re: Prison for Lederer, other owners of poker sites?
Even if people who operate gambling sites live outside the U.S., they still have to worry about the U.S. government having them extradited to the U.S.
Why else do you think Ruth Parasol had Party Poker announce that it would stop doing business in the U.S.? |

Re: Prison for Lederer, other owners of poker sites?
From what I can tell, running an offshore poker site is no more illegal after the bill is signed than it is last Thursday.
The bill specificly forbids the transaction towards the gambling site. Therefore, if anyone stands a chance at going to jail, it's the bank's officers. |

The Fulltilt guys can all crash at Humberto's pad until the heat dies down. I don't think we'll be seeing Lederer in cuffs anytime soon.

Not true. If the gambling site accepts money from a U.S. citizen, it is violating U.S. law and subject to civil and criminal penalties.
Howard better get good legal advice, or he's liable to spend several years with a large, hairy roommate if he's not careful. |

Now sure the US can snap them up but extradition is incredibly unlikely. |

Re: Prison for Lederer, other owners of poker sites?
I hope Lederer and the rest get rounded up in the paddy wagon and shipped off to the slammer. That'd make great press and raise some actual awareness to the casual players about how dumb this legislation is.
Honestly, the best thing the Feds can do for our cause is to go grab Doyle, slap some cuffs on him and send him to prison. My grandmother even knows who Doyle Brunson is, and seeing him arrested would motivate even her to make some phone calls (the 80 year old women loves poker on TV). |
