Default $50nl - sort of a general question, raise river?

I read a post here yesterday I think where I got the idea that I shouldn't shove here because only better hands call? Can someone explain this to me? i.e. in what situations does that apply?

Villain is 21/10.6/1 over 50

Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.25/$0.50 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $62.65
BB: $37.75
UTG: $35.70
MP: $44.75
CO: $175.25
Hero (BTN): $45.25

Preflop: Hero is dealt K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6 Players)
3 folds, <font color="red">Hero raises to $1.75</font>, SB calls $1.50, BB calls $1.25

Flop: ($5.25) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 Players)
SB checks, BB checks, <font color="red">Hero bets $4.50</font>, SB folds, BB calls $4.50

Turn: ($14.25) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
BB checks, Hero checks

River: ($14.25) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
<font color="red">BB bets $8.50</font>, Hero calls?

I minraise here sometimes.

I dont think there is any value in a proper raise.

If you betting the turn, are you folding to a raise?

If you shove, you want to have 50+% equity against the villain's calling range. If villain will bet call with Qs, then this cancels with As, but you will have marginally less than 50% equity because of the rare occasions he shows up with a straight flush. If he will bet call with Ts, you have more than 50% equity against his calling range and should shove.

It's more complicated if you raise but don't go all in, because you don't really want to get reraised.
