Default Re: Should the Pats be running up the score on everybody in garbage ti

I dislike the Pats as much as anyone but no one was saying anything last yr when LT was scoring TD's late in games when they were up 3 and 4 scores. Now if someone takes a cheap shot on Brady out of frustration or something and hurts him bad i wouldnt have a problem with that either

This tacit approval of hurting Brady for running up the score really pisses me off. I'm not even going to get into the whole classy vs. unclassy debate as I think it should be patently obvious that running up the score has nothing to do with class, while maliciously hurting a player out of spite has everything to do with class, or more precisely, lack of class.

The problem is your approval. Not so much yours alone, but the collective voice of all the people sharing similar sentiments. I've heard some very high profile talking heads in the media saying basically the same thing as you did. If head coaches and players start to get into their head that maliciously hurting another player on purpose somehow can be justified (Waaa-waa-boo-hoo, they're running up the score on us! My frail psyche has been hurt. I'll hurt Brady in return!) we might soon have a problem.

The fact of the matter is that it can't be justified from any reasonable ethical viewpoint. And people, especially those with prominent roles in the media, are being absolutely disgusting by downplaying the seriousness of intentionally hurting another player, and making people buy into the whole bogus "it's ok since they were running up the score" justification.
