pettitte will probably retire.

[/ QUOTE ]

I know he said he would consider it, but I can't see him doing it. Even if he leaves the Yankees, he has a few more large paychecks in his future. I can see him returning to Houston/Texas to be closer to his family, but retirement would be crazy.

[/ QUOTE ]

When he signed the contract, there was a handshake agreement that if Pettitte didn't play for NY in 2008, he would retire. He said he wouldn't screw NY over by opting out and signing elsewhere.

here's a (probably ridiculous) thought:

it seems santana will only waive his NTC if he gets a nice extension... this the yankees can offer

trade wang for santana, straight up, and sign santana to an extension or something

the yanks get santana for many years to come and the twins get a good, top pitcher for a few years for rather cheap

that said, i like wang and don't really want this to happen... but i wouldnt be shocked if it did

What would Wang's ERA be pitching 15-20 times a year on turf?

There may be riots in Minnesota if this trade happened. Pure speculation, of course.

"George Steinbrenner's sons Hank and Hal have taken over the daily running of the New York Yankees, according to a report."

Not sure what the implications of this are.

"While Torre's future remains in doubt, it appears young pitcher Joba Chamberlain will be joining the Yankees starting rotation come spring training.

"That's something I'll insist on," said Hank Steinbrenner."

Just heard on Mike and the Mad Dog that Guidry probably won't be back next year.

Leo Mazzone has been mentioned as a possible candidate to replace him but the guys on the show didn't think it would happen.
