Default Borg 20 I Check-Raise (Hand Against Myself)

Borgata 20/40 (10 Players)

Hero is a 2p2er who I know wins at much higher limits and reads hands well. Hero has opened T9s a little early(3-4 seats off the button) but otherwise has done nothing noteworthy. I don't know if Hero knows that I know.

Villain is myself. I have been introduced to him as a 2p2er to him.

We don't know much else about each other and this is our first hand together.

Preflop: UTG raises, Hero 3-bets UTG+1 KK, UTG calls.

Flop: 942 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
UTG check-raises, Hero calls.

Turn: J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
UTG bets, Hero calls.

River: Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
UTG bets, Hero calls.

Before you comment on the hand, what is UTGs range?

Ben - isn't it obvious he was gonna pop you on the river then back down because a lot of your range hit the board by the river? Looks kind of standard to me.

Your play on the other hand...... was pure Colonel Mustard, in the library with the candle stick. Mrs Peackock's candle stick to be exact... yes, it was used. Yuck.

That's obvious.

I give Ben AsJ here, not sure about his river bet.

You asked for UTGs range. If you are asking for UTGs range at showdown given the action preflop, flop, turn, and river then my answer is: 77, 88, 99, TT, JJ, QQ, KK, AA, and AQspades, and AJspades.

If you're asking for his range after only the pre-flop action then his range is 77-AA, AJo+, ATs+, KQs+.

I'd put you on 99+, AsQs, AsJs. Against that range, hero surprisingly can only beat about 27% of your range, and he has played this hand beautifully.

My instinct is to raise the turn, but against your flop check-raising range, you are probably not folding much and this way hero can wait to see if the river is bad before committing extra chips. A tricky little exploitive play against another TAG.

I just ran the numbers, and even on the turn villain only beats 44% of your range (as given), and has to worry about being 3-bet by better hands / some flush draws. I think the turn call is surprisingly strong.

elin, I think we can discount AA/KK. Also, I think you need to include a donkeyness %age. Also, given that we don't have the K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (well, I have no idea if we do or not as this useful bit of info was not included) KQ and even KJ[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] are viable hands, no? I agree with your overall conclusion that "hero" played his kings well. I also agree with TT that had different cards fallen on the turn and river, we might have seen a raise at some point.
