400NL - Please school me on the river c/r bluff
I'm just moving up from 200 where I crushed the games playing a pretty straightforward 19/16/4 style. I'm realizing that I need to start adding some new tricks to my arsenal if I expect to make cake at 400. So I've been thinking alot about checkraising the river more, both for value, and as a bluff.
villain is playing a very LAG game, running @ 34/25/4 over 240 hands. I'm not sure how much it matters over a smallish sample, but his wtsd is only @ 11%. I haven't decided if he's a good/great/bad LAG yet. I think he probably sees me as kinda nitty, but aggro and solid. So is this a good spot for a c/r bluff? Why, or why not? I feel like it is for a couple reasons - mostly because of my image, and the fact that it's unlikely he can have a king strong enough to stand a c/r here. Blinds: $2/$4 5 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $348.10 Hero: $394.00 Button: $1.239.05 SB: $306.20 BB: $569.70 Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is CO with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG folds, Hero raises to $16, Button calls, SB calls, BB folds. Flop: 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($52, 3 players) SB checks, Hero checks, Button checks. Turn: K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($52, 3 players) SB checks, Hero bets $36, Button calls, SB folds. River: 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($124, 2 players) Hero checks, Button bets $100, Hero pulls the trigger, or gives it up? |

Given your image....I kinda like it. I'd also like it with AK.

Shove---Villain feels good about calling with approximately 2% of his range here. (his range is big, if your a little slow)

my question is what are we representing if we shove?

my question is what are we representing if we shove? [/ QUOTE ] It might be a cliche, but villians will put you on AK more than any other hand. |

it's just that 3 players saw the turn in a raised pot. is one pair (well, two with board, but you know) really good enough to check/shove river with? are you actually going to do this when you have AK and expect to be called by worse?

my question is what are we representing if we shove? [/ QUOTE ] I was thinking the same thing. If we're trying to fold a K here, I guess we're representing AK. It might work, but it has to be a pretty high percentage play, since we're risking $340 to win $224. I'd probably give it up. |

Re: 400NL - Please school me on the river c/r bluff
spew if u shove here, AK will call, Donky w MP will call. 45 Calls, tbh we dont represent enough strength due to the check on the flop, only viable hand we can have here is AK/KQ?
are we trying to convince villian we have AK? or hope he has missed draw and we take the pot? or working on a sick meta game of some sort.. ? Imo Fold, First showdown with stone nuts, then add in the odd steals. |

wowwww 100% spew if you did this [/ QUOTE ] No I did not pull the trigger. The point of this thread was to get some insight into why or why not to c/r bluff here - if you don't think it's a good spot, then please atleast give a brief explanation of why, rather than just a "wowwww, spew". |
