Default Borgata- Bobby Flay Steak

Has anyone been to Bobby Flay Steak in the Borgata? If so, was it good? I have not heard good things about Homestead.

I've been there 15+ times since it opened, and will be there again this weekend - great restaurant, much better than Homestead - I highly reccommend it. Definitely my #1 choice in the Borgata for a great steak over Specchio at #2. Homestead is pretty far down on the list. If you have any specific questions about things on the menu, let me know.

Bobby Flay was just ok. Homestead is the better of the two if you are looking to eat a steak.

Go there. I've had very bad experiences at Old Homestead several times, but the two times I've been to Bobby Flay's place, both the food and service have been excellent. The approach to steak is a little different than most high-end steakhouses. Except to get dry rubbed steaks. I had the NY Strip w/ some kind of rub and it was excellent. Good enough for me to find the recipe for the rub and make it at home.

I have reservations at Bobby's this Sunday... What do you recommend? I'm a Porthouse guy myself, and usually have a seafood apertizer.

Please let us know what the best app's and entree's on the menu... in your opinion.

Some of the things on the menu are different now than when they were put on the website. The lobster bar is excellent for an appetizer if you like seafood. 1/2 chilled lobster, the skewers, and the lobster avacado cocktail are all good choices. If you choose not to do the lobster bar as an appetizer, the blue crab and coconut milk cocktail is a good choice. It's not on the website, but the last few times I've been there for an appetizer I've had their corn chowder with green chile's for an app, which is also available as a side (in a smaller size) with the entrees.

If you're eating steak as an entree and like spice and this is your first time there, get one of the spice rubbed steaks. The steak sauce that it comes with compliments it perfectly - the spices are not overpowering and everything comes together just right... I've had the filet and the strip, not a problem with either one. If you are not into spice, real tough to go wrong with the Philly-style strip, an interesting taste with the provolone sauce. If you dont have it for an app and again are into spice, the corn chowder goes together with the spice rubbed steaks and steak sauce very well. I would avoid the asparagus, fries, and roasted mushroom sides... nothing special.

I've never had anything else but a steak for an entree here (would be silly with seablue right next door which has way more seafood selection), my wife has had both the salmon and the flounder, which she described as 'nothing special'.

Done Homestead a ton of times until I figured out Specchio had better steaks, but now it's pretty much always Bobby Flay's for dinner when we want steak. If it's just two of you, it's better to sit in the back right corner of the restaurant near the windows... the main dining area for 2 people is way crowded and right on top of the people next to you - if you're sharing intimate moments or company secrets at dinner, you'll be sharing them with at least 4 other people.

Thanks man... I'm taking the in-laws there on Sunday.

I'm tired of the Homestead. It's hit or miss there; sometimes it's great and other times it sucks. I heard negative things about Specchio, but I may try it now.

I personally didn't think Sea Blue was all that spectacular and it was significantly over priced.... My wife ordered the lobster pot pie for a whopping $78... That was crazy.

I've only ever had bad experiences with service at Specchio...never had a 'bad' meal there. Some of the menu choices have been 'nothing special', but I got hooked on their steaks a while back and only went back to Homestead when friends came to hangout and insisted on going to the steakhouse. On the service front, I've never had a bad experience with service at Bobby Flay (or Puck's or SeaBlue for that matter) - Homestead is good on service when you have a big group (obv) and Specchio can be very hit or miss service-wise. On your SeaBlue experience, I can't imagine what one would expect out of a lobster pot pie for $78 other than disappointment.

Just ate there about an hour ago.... both corn chowders are off the menu. The black bean soup as a substitute is pretty terrible. Dessert - pumpkin creme brulee and chocolate butterscotch layer cake were both fantastic.
