25nl: Bad spot to give a freecard?
Villian is 31/19.6/3.43. Typical Lagish player but pretty solid. Is this hand a good spot to give a free card and am i right to assume villian has any PP or any broadway.Comments appreciated.

Re: 25nl: Bad spot to give a freecard?
I would probably just raise the flop. It may look like you are trying to take him off a cbet and if he has a hand like QQ he might go broke on the flop as he thinks his overpair is the nuts. If he doesn't have ne thing i don't know what he will hit on the turn that would make him lose his stack. Your call will probably shut him down. I don't know about the PF call w/ KJ offsuit

Re: 25nl: Bad spot to give a freecard?
as played on flop/turn this is fine. raise flop if vil will get it ai on flop but otherwise call flop raise turn is fine. I have a feeling since you're posting this that vil had QQ and turned the boat. Thats a beat. I try not to call preflop raises with KJ esp if the hand will be head-up. I only call with pos. and/or a good read.

[ QUOTE ]
I don't know about the PF call w/ KJ offsuit [/ QUOTE ] What is villain 3-betting preflop that wouldn't have you dominated? KQo I could see a call here because of the extra value they have for being connected, but then you aren't playing for top pair value. Don't call a 3-bet with these, even in position. As for the flop, you got lucky and hit trips with second kicker. Unless you think that villain is willing to 3-bet AJ you need to raise the flop here. Anyone with KK or AA is likely going all-in to your raise, and QQ might as well. The turn is just tough luck. |
