What do you think those old, retired, men do there all day? Knit? Btw, cheapest beer in any town. Granted my grandfathers were all old vets/members and I used to just walk in w/my friends for 0.75 bottles of Bud.

Lots of these games you'll find in blue-collar bars, that's where I'm from. I miss double-yoke pickled eggs, ah, to be 23 again...

I think Ping Pong is more of a sport than Bowling.

golden tee shouldn't be included because a bit of practice gives you too much of an edge

BOOT - hm, I love beer pong / beirut but I think alot of it is about the drinking and how well you perform under duress (ie drunk).

Perhaps KBZ will weigh in on the matter, word on the street is he plays at an expert level.

How many bars have you walked into with a beer-pong game going?

Beer-pong is out. This is not a college dorm sport decathlon.

I've been to bars with Beirut (some call it beer-pong) tables.

there is one in Saratoga Springs, NY. it's wicked fratty, but awesome. was just there this summer. me and my GF's 45 year old uncle took on 2 local heroes. I hit the first 5 cups but froze on the the 6th

Jillians in Boston has ping-pong tables. I'm sure all you would have to do is give your waitress $20 and she wouldn't care about you playing.

Adding arcade games opens a different angle. A "arcade game Decathlon" would be better focus for that.

[/ QUOTE ]

also, pinball (especially new school pinball) is very close to being an arcade game. if you don't want to include Golden Tee, you shouldn't include pinball.

as to the original list

Table Tennis
Darts
Pool
Foosball
Skee Ball
Horseshoes
Bowling
Shuffleboard
Pinball
Air Hockey

ping-pong is a weird one, b/c standard ping-pong is basically a real sport. ditto for bowling.

fwiw, our triathalon in college was beer pong (real beer pong, played with paddles) followed by caps (like beirut, but with beer caps instead of ping pong balls) and lawn darts (played with beer cups in the target rings).

but this is more of a beer sports event.

for "bar" sports I would just go with

Darts
Pool
Foosball

b/c really those are the ones commonly played. the rest are things that people may not have played since they were kids.

Haha well, in LA they all seem to play the 5/10 limit at Commerce... but fair point

If you want to keep bowling, but feel it's too much of a sport... maybe candlepin bowling if you can find it?

Oh and just want to re-emphasize that Pop-A-Shot is fun as hell.
