Default 4/180 Is this too aggressive and just a way to spew chips?

Villian in the hand has limped a lot of crap hands. Previous to this twice I raised him when he limped preflop and he just folded. He was fairly loose (35.3 I think) and weak. He only raised twice each time for 5bbs.

Preflop I was just trying to steal the pot and called the weak raise hoping to hit something.

on the flop I felt his check was a sign of weakness and felt a push would take it. Should I not have been so aggressive since he didnt have much of a stack left and I would be left hoping for a non heart 7?

Fold preflop, check/fold unimproved turn, if he has been raising with trash he is probably calling with trash and you can't push a loose player off anything. You have one over card which may or may not be a full out, and you have a gutshot draw to the best hand. Check and try to hit.

so he has 900 behind? fairly loose looks you up all day long ...

I see what you are trying to do preflop and I don't detest it, not that I would do it, I'm waiting for a better spot ... then you are priced in to make the call

Check it back and try to hit something, anything ...

He wasn't putting half his stack in there preflop with that limp-reraise move with something that he's going to fold with on the flop. His check is a god-send. Take the free card and try to catch a hand or at least a stronger draw.

First problem is that you just don't have enough chips to be doing this PF. 100 BBs deep sure, but not here. You obviously have to call his minraise getting a gazillion to one. On the flop, I mean he's not folding, and you don't have anything, so why bet?

Fold preflop. If the pot was unopened, a raise is fine.

As played, you have to check behind on that flop. He's not folding if you jam. Ever.

Thanks for the replies all. I know this is a leak in my game where I feel I have to keep trying to bluff to get the chips.

Villian here did fold after a long time of thinking, but in the back of my mind I knew I shouldnt have been in that spot.

Fold PF, as Dunk pointed out, we have no stack to be doing this. Your previous action against him has made limping a big hand +EV for him, even the poorest of players will pick up on this, and donks love limping big hands to begin with. Also the BB is in prime range to shove over you, if he's noticed your aggression vs MP1, his shove range is wide, and all of it is beating our hand.
As played, agreed his check is a godsend, take the free turn, hit gutshot and remove his stack/fold.
