Stacks:140

5-handed

Pre-flop:
Hero (button) opens 4, SB calls

Flop:9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Pot -- 9
SB bets 7, Hero raises to 27, SB calls.

Turn:8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Pot -- 63
SB checks, Hero checks.

River:A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Pot -- 63

If he had top pair nines, the ace will likely kill action since you checked behind on the turn and have now decided to bet, so a small value bet is probably in order.

Anybody bet this turn? Who bets it if we had 100 bb stacks (villain would only have just over a psb behind)?

Well, in order for us to not bet this turn we have to put him on a 7 or a 78, and that seems quite difficult to do.

As he played it, I don't see many people nearly potting the flop into you on a gutshot draw. And there are two possible gutshots, an 8 completing a gutshot for a 7 or a 7 completing a gutshot for an 8. Do we freak out when a 7 or 8 fall here everytime it's bet into us and they call a sizable reraise? I don't think we should. The 7 is probably a bigger concern for us since it completes an OESD that someone might bet out into us and call a reraise with, but only one hand makes that draw.

Short answer: I bet this turn.

I'd also keep in mind that this board is less attractive for a pair to call on with that card and size my bet accordingly. This leaves an easy push on the river.
