I just fear that deleting some "dumb" threads or "dumb" posts by some of these guys will get entirely out of hand. Some of the people mentioned on this thread go way overboard when flaming someone or jumping all over people for "dumb comments." I just don't want to see the day where they start deleting/locking/banning threads/people for not being as smart as they are.

I am sure some of them would make fine moderators, I just have my reservations about "locking dumb posts."

Cola,

It should be JoA, and the choice is pretty easy. He basically monitors this place pretty well already, he is knowledgeable in baseball but also in many other aspects of Sports as well, so it isn't as if you are just modding a "baseball" poster. I don't see how it should be anyone else.

Sincerely,

~td

If tapped (again), I suppose I could nut up and take the reins...

...I know that's what it is coming to anyway...

Although I'd love the power & respect (from noobs) of red font, I declare myself officially out of the running at the present time. Besides, I no know no baseball.

WTF is happening in this forum?

JOA is a terrible choice, those of you who don't see it really astound me.

On a forum like this one, 5 moderators are way too much. I speak from experience.

[/ QUOTE ]seems to be working ok in OOT.

For whats its worth, I only think its a good idea just because they can organize this forum a little better by making or assigning official titles to certain threads and by deleting duplicates. To me thats the the only function the mods should have in this forum. I guess battling trolls too.

I just don't see why the Mod needs to know a damned thing about sports. The major problem in this forum is reptitiveness. As long as the mod is interested enough to read a fair amount of threads and lock the 7 different BUMP THIS IF THE YANKEES GROUND INTO A DOUBLE PLAY WITH 1 OUT AND A GUY ON THIRD threads and their ilk then it could be almost anybody. I don't think the mod should be someone who is constantly condescending with other posters in this forum based on a perceived higher knowledge of the game, simply because I think the average poster/lurker in this forum won't benefit from that. Not that I discourage the idea of someone who is very knowledgable being a mod, but I do discourage someone who is very knowledgable who jumps at every turn to throw it in someone's face with a belittling tone.
