OT: No Rake Poker Site?

I am a long time lurker so I am very familiar with skipperbob and I don't think that was being prickish. There probably is some truth to the statment - maybe not violence but some dirty lawyer stuff if the site became a threat.

i think a major problem is that poker sites that do well are those where the so called "fish" play. I think it would be very hard to build a site's popularity by appealing to "pros/intelligent winning players." These players would obviously love the new site's idea but could quite possibly make more by taking money off poor players at other sites than just not paying rake. With the site you are suggesting most recreational players would not understand how much they were saving by not paying rake, not immediately anyway.

That said I think its a good idea and would invest in it given the opportunity. Its the only idea that has peaked my interest even mildly for a new poker site. The vast majority leave me scratching my head going "are these poeple really stupid enough to think that will work?"

I think one way you could advertise and hopefully attract those weaker players would be to attract the ultra high stakes online players to your site. Those guys are essentially playing the same people no matter where they are playing so the whole chasing the fish scenario is lessened somewhat and it would probably be advantageous to play with no rake - thus i think they could be convinced to come. Then people wanting to watch them would make accounts and hopefully understand the reasoning as to why they are playing there and begin playing htere themselves.

Its still a longshot though. I know that when I've signed up at some small site in the past to bonus whore it or whatever, its just so inconvenient compared to party due to the lack of ghames going and I don't know if this is a factor any new site could overcome.

long time lurker here also. every noob question, he acts like this. I got the same treatment as have, I guarantee you, 50 others. He is just so superior to everyone else.

He didnt find it reasonable to explain to you what his meaning was, instead he fired off a joke that a noob would not get and leave you confused.

Just because you don't understand something doesn't make the person who made the statement a prick.

If he prefaces the joke with "Adabudalak Dikshit is one of the founders of party poker. He formerly ran a phone sex/pornography ring and party is notorious for not giving a [censored] about it's players or what's best for the game, only what is best for their bottom line" then fires the joke, I think it becomes significantly less funny.

Lighten the [censored] up.

Excuse me. I understood it completely. The OP was who i was referring too. It was a pointless and worthless post to someone who was seriously looking for some guidance or opinions. That's all i meant. I said i was a little too harsh.
