Re: 3 betting pf with AK
i 3 bet OOP moreso than with positon.
reasons being W/P i have more control over the hand and more information. OOPS i want to narrow the playing feild as much as possible. i hate playing OOP. but with the ability to take down the pot combined with th ability to c/f a missed flop are cool. |

Re: 3 betting pf with AK
if im 3 bettting OOP, and get called, im looking to get away usually.
perhaps my thinking is wrong here but not a lot calls you that your ahead of, but you can push out some hands that your behind to preflop. |

Re: 3 betting pf with AK
I think you're running bad. A lot of times a c-bet will pick up the pot if you whiff. I always c-bet a K high flop, A high flop is more dependent.
if you 3-bet AK and the flop comes AQJ, this is a super easy check. I think you have issues with playing postflop, but your 3-bet pf is fine (i.e. you aren't going to "fix" your issues by not 3-betting AKo ... and if you do it's at the expense @ losing a ton of value). |

Re: 3 betting pf with AK
Are you betting the flop when an Ace or King flops? I tend to check in those spots (especially in position) and play as if I would with KK on Axx or QQ on a Kxx or whatever.
In 3bet pots you don't need to bet every street to get 100bb in, so checking the flop doesn't hurt your value, and it makes villains with underpairs more likely play with you. |

why am i 3-betting AK? [/ QUOTE ] oops, never answered this question. Ok, keeping in mind I usually don't 3-bang uber-nits with AK ... we 3-bet AK pf b/c it has a ton of pot equity against villian's raising range. Also, since villians typically have a wide raising range (esp. the ones we are 3-bangin), there is a decent chance that we BOTH miss the flop, in which case our continued flop aggression will often times pick up the pot. Continued flop aggression might even get weak-PPs to fold who were merely calling our RR for set value. In the end: (1) putting in more money as a big favorite against villian's range and (2) scooping pots uncontested with continued aggression ==> good. |

Re: 3 betting pf with AK
AK is slightly behind pocket pairs excluding KK and AA obviously and ahead of anything else, what hands are you trying to fold pf that you're behind to? If you mean small pps, then I agree.
You basically 3-bet AK because you're ahead most of the time pf, right? Postflop is another matter, that's why it's good to shove pf |
