Default School Wireless Blocks Stars?

I can't connect to PokerStars while on campus. Full Tilt has always worked fine, and Stars works anywhere else. Awhile ago, to use AIM on campus I had to change the port number or something to be able to connect. My firewall is not the problem. Anyone have ideas?

I have only tried a few times, but I have never been able to connect to stars on my school wireless. FT, aim, and just about everything else ive tried have worked, just not stars.

It would be fine except my dorm internet is awful and has literally cost me thousands of dollars of disconnects. In fact, I'll reward anyone who can figure out how to get me onto stars on campus with $50.

Try putting this in your user.ini file

[Connect]
FwDetect=0
userport=443

If that does not work, email stars and they will tell you how to try and work around it.

So you're willing to give someone a whole $50 in return for saving you thousands and thousands of dollars? You might want to bump up the offer.

Look here under problems logging in:

http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/download/faq/

Should be able to find the answer there, but if you need proxy info you will need to befriend someone with inside knowledge of your campus network. It is also possible they are blocking the necessary port but not likely.

This sounds the exact same problem I'm having at home. Can connect everywhere but Stars and can connect to Stars from other locations.

I tried the userport=443 thing, but not the line before. I'll try that tonight.

If you're interested the series of posts on this in the software forum.
