Did you really think I was advocating playing the $250's on a $1k bankroll?

[/ QUOTE ]

FYP: I'm still here.

No, I thought you meant using the 1k as a supplemental when my roll is a bit light for the $150's.

{quote}It is unbelievable that the poster would let his wife dictate like this to him when he is the main supporter of the household.

[/ QUOTE ]

The key word is "offer." There's no demand. The more I look at it the more I think she sees it as a good investment and not a means of control. She know's I don't need the 1k and could easily say no as I do to everyone that has tried to stake me.

No, I was pointing out how little $1k is for playing tourneys that large and that your risk-of-ruin would obviously be quite high.
I was making fun of you.

My hunch is that the $40 and $50's are really fast-structures and are borderline crap-shoots and probably have really awful juice.

You're right on both counts. Starting stacks on the 40-50's is 800 and you have to wade through a buncha lunatics before you can start playing poker. The 150+'s with 1500 to 3k starting stacks allow for some swings.

Thanks to all for your replies. On the whole, I think I'll go ahead and accept the deal. I may not make as much as I could, but for several varying reasons, I like having her involved.

Wow, marriage sounds awful after reading this thread. So complicated.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, dealing with other people sounds awful. How bout you just marry someone you trust to make reasonable decisions and show them you will do the same, then money (and most other things) is not an issue.

Or, you could just keep playing and make big spending decisions jointly like rational people?

If you're not comfortable talking to her about something you're doing, then you probably shouldn't be doing it.

Because its no ones' fxcking business I've been avoiding the marriage aspects of this deal. BUT if you're with a woman or have been with women that gives you pause over a situation like this, you're fxcked. That doesn't fit my marriage. Adanthar, I respect your status (I first registered in 99, I think) but I hoped that you'ld have something to offer beyond what you did.

It's only complicated if you let it be complicated.

I've been married for over 5 years, I handle all finances (bills), we have one joint account and it's perfect. I say, "Hey, I'd like to buy this Civilization 4 expansion" She says "Cool" She says "There's a craft fair I'm going to on Saturday, I'm going to take $100" I say "Awesome"

I don't know why I like to pop in to these threads to defend marriage, but it can be pretty damn awesome...
