What\'s the most heroic thing you\'ve ever done?
I just got asked this.
The best I could come up with was going above and beyond the call at work to help somebody graduate. I assume some of us must have some pretty sweet stories, and the rest of the answers will be entertaining in their tiny scope. |

Re: What\'s the most heroic thing you\'ve ever done?
When I was twelve I went whitewater rafting with my dad and brother. My dad, who is older, fell out of the raft and was sucking down water and really struggling. I jumped out and grabbed my dad and swam him back to the raft. They pulled him in, and he coughed up a bunch of water, but was fine. Wasn't particularly heroic, but meh.
Also, in college, my roommate and I were drinking and campus police came, and when they came in, they saw alcohol under the futon, and asked whose it was. I told them it was mine. |

Re: What\'s the most heroic thing you\'ve ever done?
My wife's Nana became very ill this year and I basically took over responsibility for overseeing her care. At great financial and emotional cost my wife and I made Nana's last months as good as they could possibly be, despite the uselessness of Nana's daughter (my wife's aunt, my wife's mother is dead).
That sure doesn't sound very heroic written out. Oh, well. |

Re: What\'s the most heroic thing you\'ve ever done?
Around seven years ago, I was driving home on St. Patrick's day eve when I spotted three skinheads kicking a guy on the ground. I pulled a u-turn and put on my brights, getting the car to within a couple of yards, grabbed the baseball bat i had in there and got out. The silhouette lighting and a big ass overcoat must have looked pretty menacing, because they scattered. I pulled him into the car and dropped him off at a hospital. He told me I probably saved his life.
I don't know what the [censored] I was thinking. |

Re: What\'s the most heroic thing you\'ve ever done?
I was living on the 2nd floor of an apartment building when I hear a very faint *knock-knock* on my door. I almost ignored it but they knocked again. I open the door to my horrified looking downstairs neighbor mumbling something. To my horror I finally make out the softly spoken "my kitchen is on fire".
WHAAAT?!! Thanks for banging and yelling "FIRE!!!" I run downstairs and the stovetop is consumed...and flames are cooking several containers of PAM and other explosives on a shelf above. They had no extinguisher and the fire blocked the sink. I tore apart the kitchen and found 2 cases of Coke. I shook the case and opened 2 cans at a time and foamed the whole stove and walls. I was blinded for a while and had severe smoke inhalation, but I got that fire out. Nothing ever made the paper, and I never told anyone. -ZEN |
