I live in Vegas, I know a number of people who've been in this town since before I was born (1966), either professional gamblers or industry types. Poker room managers, pit bosses etc.

They won't play in home games, not for any real money, or if it's not friends...there is still rampant cheating in those types of games.

There are plenty of good games on and off the strip, plenty of action, no need to go looking to get yourself in a situation.

Thanks for the responses. I would be very suprised if anyone knew the people involved. Again, this is just a story I was told, and asked for my opinion on. I agree with the two main ideas in the responses, the kid was an idiot for going, and it was sounds awfully fishy. Common sense says don't take the chance. I will pass along the 2+2 wisdom and hopefully the same mistakes are not repeated. I am just glad it was not my $50K.
