Damn poor guy.
For those of you that regularly go out far from civilization you should look into getting a satellite phonewikipedia.org. Not to blame the victim but it really does pay to be prepared in remote parts of the world.

I also hope they rule out foul play.

a hand-held CB is much cheaper than a sat-phone (they run about $50 to $100), and probably more helpful for this type of situation. I always have one in my car when I go road-tripping.

Of course this isn't to pile on the guy that died, but just to help people think of the different scenarios and what you can do to be safe.

this of all times is the worst to go off into the desert unprepared. its got to be like 125+ in the middle of the day out there.
