durron, as I recall in one game you purposely tried to vote off villagers, as a villager, because you believed you were going to get converted before the end of the game

I want to avoid things like that

what exactly can you do to try and get assimilated, anyway? good targets for the Borg are just people who will stay alive longer.

actually there were two evil factions and i purposely tried to vote off from the weaker evil faction because i knew the stronger faction would convert me eventually

how about: assimilated borg lose all their powers and MUST vote with the borg queen or die. the queen assimilating people will be optional.

to expand:

borg will have 24-7 chat and they don't have to vote with the queen thoroughout the day... but their vote must be on the same place as the queen by nightfall or they die. also, the queen may send a PM to the game mod at any time to change a borg's vote, which will be publicly done in thread. the queen may even do this to themselves (for deception purposes)

also, there will be a few roles:

hugh (starts game as mostly normal villager)
picard
lore
data

(and perhaps others) to which interesting things happen to them when they get assimilated, likely things including not having the "don't vote with borg queen or die". however the specifics soah would probably want to keep close to the vest.

another thought would be that players' votes count for 0 after they've been assimilated, and the Borg Queen's vote increases by 1 for each living Borg drone

otherwise it would start to get obvious if there's a big block of players that always vote together

this idea kinda breaks down though once the Queen dies, although maybe we could let her continue to decide the votes and night actions even when dead (as part of the collective consciousness)

that's the idea, that's the drawback that makes people not want to get assimilated
