Re: 50 Wines You Can Always Trust
Only one I recognized was the King Estate Oregon Pinot Gris ($16) which is quite good.

[ QUOTE ] You can aaaaaaaaaaaaalways rely on Pinot Grigio (Italian) in a restaurant. Always my go-to and never disappoints. [/ QUOTE ] You must not expect a lot out of your wine. [/ QUOTE ] My father used to trade wine with Sotherby's and he was the one who got me into Pinot Grigio. He says you rarely can go wrong with it. After drinking it for a few years in dozens of restaurants, for value, I have to agree. I take his word for it given he's had about 45-50 years experience with wine as well as being in the industry periodically. |

Re: 50 Wines You Can Always Trust
Golden,
My point was that saying you can always rely on Pinot Grigio is a bit much. Every varietal has good and bad. While it may be a safe pick, there is plenty of bad Pinot Grigio out there and enough restaurants that have no clue and serve bad wine. |

Banks,
A couple more super broad brush stroke recs that can help out in a pinch when you have no clue and neither does the waiter: Chateauneuf de pape Chianti Classico Riserva |
