Default Line check and river decision HU FTP 24K Guarantee

Villain has been playing pretty snug, not too out of line, and betting pretty small for value.

Hero?

I checked planning to check call the river, as I'd caught him bluffing the river a few times already when checked to.

The shove threw me off, as Villain has only shoved twice so far heads up, but at no point in the hand did i sense any real strength.

Advice on all streets greatly appreciated.

Bumping cause I had two friends screaming for me to fold, but I thought it was pretty close.

How would others play this hand?

It sounds like a call. Top pair is very strong heads up and I'm generally happy felting it. With your read that villain is capable of bluffing the river I would not fold.

I think you can probably fold this river without reads, but extremely close with read. I might still fold if you think you can beat him.

I'd like to see a C-Bet on the flop here, which would make the turn an easy push.

I would normally cbet, except Villain had been firing almost 100% when checked to.

And i don't know that the Q is hitting the turn, and if Villain called PF with an A, then I'm not sure I'm pushing a turn w/o a Q or K.

But you're right, if I bet the flop, I can more easily get it in on the turn when I do hit.

I thought the important question is what does Villain put me on? Because unless he thinks I have a hand I can't get aay from, does he push this river with a 9?

Because it's HU, stacks are shallow, and you don't need to raise a large amount to accomplish the same thing.

At the same time, you should be raising something like 85% of your hands here by risking little to win a large amount. Why risk more than you need to in order to win the same thing?

Of course, now I'm noticing you were in BB here and it was probably dumb to raise at all and you probably should have just checked. The raise amount might be right here, but you're bloating a pot oop.
