25PL AA in small blind, heads up against BB
[This is from a full ring table that had suddenly got short, not sure if here or micro is the best place to post this]
Villian is 35/22/.7 over 40 hands. I hadn't tangled with him, but I had been being pretty aggressive preflop and cbetting and taking down a lot of pots, so him just flat out being tired of me is a strong possibility. Not sure how often that happens at these limits though. Thoughts? Re: 25PL AA in small blind, heads up against BB
Ick... this is definitely a tough spot.
QJ is possible of course, and so is T9 that just nailed you. We'd be drawing dead against T9, but we DO have 8 outs on two pair, so that counts for something. One pair is also entirely possible too, especially if he thinks you're floating a missed flop. Especially in blind battles heads up, I've found that aggressive players tend to push their holdings harder, so I wouldn't be surprised at all to see something like KQ or KJ. For his stack size, I personally would call. |

calcalcalcalcalcall [/ QUOTE ] What's the read on people with these stats? That's really what threw me for a loop, he's so passive post flop compared to his preflop play. Is it different if I hadn't been taking down a lot of pots? How much does that potential read come into play? More reasoning would be appreciated. |

calcalcalcalcalcall [/ QUOTE ] Reasoning? Most of it is that I'm happy to get aces all in against a 40bb stack almost anytime. Sure there are tons of hands in his range you lose to (JJ, 9T, 88, etc.), but there are tons of hands you beat (AQ, KK, KQ, etc.). Calling $6.50 into a $16.50 pot is >>> folding here imo. |

He is passive but getting almost 3-1 on the call means I'm calling here.

A true read on his post flop Aggro comes only after quite a few more hands. That being said, he's sitting with an awkward stack size (not short and not deep) and that usually means he's not that great a player. He has no leverage with this stack size. Plus your calling 6.6 to win 16.50, so you only need to be good here about 30% of the time. Interesting that that aggro of a PF player would let you raise his big blind and just call. One thing I do out of the SB esp, is make my PF raises a little bit larger because I'm generally doing this with what I consider the best hand at the time and I'm going to be playing out of position for the whole hand. |
