I don't know. I felt like there was a good chance I'd get more action after raising the flop, so a free card raise would be fruitless

I think you meant 'calling' the flop above (in response to 45's 'why are you not raising the flop').

The problem is you turn a heart and all your action dries up. Nobody is going nuts on a 4 flush board without a flush, and if you get 3bet you still have outs to the nuts.
You've got a boatload of outs and huge implied odds against single heart hands (which will always call here), call the turn, and fold the river UI.
Taking the pot down on the flop isn't a bad result either as anyone who folds here isn't going to be putting in many bets when you improve anyway.

Taking the pot down on the flop? Lol? How often does anyone donk/fold on the flop into a PFR?

And no, I meant raising. I thought if I raised, there was a decent chance I would be 3bet or donked on the turn. Free card plays only work in passive games.

How does this make raising better than calling?

You're right. I meant folding out SB.

The raise isn't for a freecard, it's for value. At worst you are up against a flopped flush and have 7 outs to the nuts.
Otherwise you have 9+ outs, probably closer to 13.

I think hands like A5/A3/A2 will call 2 on the flop, but will fold to a bet with a 4 flush on the turn. Maybe soemthing like 66-88 as well.
I think you get extra bets out of single heart hands that are drawing as well.

Yeah, I would lean on folding, but man I hate it when that happens. I have no idea how villain plays, but I would expect him to have you beat here.

If the guy plays fairly straightforwardly, then yeah, muckeroo.

Edit: raise flop.

Don't raise the river. MP probably just made two pair. I think it's worth a call though in case I'm wrong.

Edit: Didn't realize it's a monoflop. Changed the way I'd play it as stated below.
