make sure you realize you may not be able to file a police report after x of weeks. However, I'm pretty sure you can still go to the police route and have him pay out of pocket.

Might be best to fill out the police report and then get him to pay you money. If he refuses then you can go to his insurance company.

OOT thread from when I was in the same position, results are at the bottom.

Cliffs Notes: Woman hits my wife's car, they pay out-of-pocket for repairs, we do not report to insurance company. I did make them sign a release of liability.
