Posting hands and getting feedback

Ok this is somewhat of a cynical post but doesn't it seem ridiculous to post a hand history, like so many of the posts on this forum, and ask for other people's advice? Unless the person responding was sitting at the same table what does it matter? Isn't every hand completely relevant to the table and the circumstances? In a minimalist, basic point of view, for most hand history advice responses isn't the whole concept a bit ridiculous. I mean is that player really going to change his/her play because of a response/ is there ever enough information for a poster to reply with something valid to the circumstances?

people post hands that confuse them and try to give as much information on the player as they can. while they might not change how they play it can make them see the situation in a different way and hopefully take the advice of better players and improve.

Not everything is depends on every little detail. Some of the advice is useless, but some advice is quite valuable if your goal is to figure out how to think about related hands rather than to figure out the right answer in that one situation. Some answers tell you how to exploit 2+2ers.

Posting hand histories are very helpful. Some are more difficult than others, especially when it's a heavily read dependednt situation, but many others are not. There are others that don't have a solid answer, but spark a lot of thought and good discussion.

If a player is seeking some advice, and isn't willing to make use of it from time to time, then they're just a knucklehead. Case in point: FGators.

But anyway, some hands that a player might have difficulty with might be easy to more advanced players. Most questions I'd ask on PLO would be easy for good players to answer.

Hand histories spark some of the most useful discussion in these forums. Outs are outs; pot odds are pot odds. While some nuance may be lost, it certainly doesn't make it useless. You will notice that many posters post both PT stats over x number of hands and any relevant reads or history. Even if there is no consensus or "right way" determined to play a hand, you can see competing strategies and ways to think about a hand.

Posting hands you are unsure about is a great way to get opinions and improve your game providing you supply all relevant information and are open to the responses given.

What I see at times unfortunately is a post with responses given to help and the OP having no intention of listening. In which case don’t post. Not saying all replies will be correct but at least try to understand different approaches to the game.

Not sure of the reason behind this thread – if you do not want to post hands because you are always correct in your play that’s fine – don’t post. Nobody is forcing you to post hands.
