Oh My God... what's worse then Razz? no content

So I tried 27 today. How do you stand it? Honestly? How can anyone stand it?

I decided to try limit 27.

I'm dealt 2357Q. I raise....3 callers.
I draw 1... 2 draw 3 and 1 draws 4.
I get a 7. I bet. EVERYONE CALLS.
I draw 1... 3 people draw 2.
I get another 7. I bet everyone calls.
I draw 1. 1 draws. I believe another draws 1.
I get ANOTHER 2.

I check. Someone bets. Some raises him. Someone wins with an 86 low.

A few more of these and I vow never to play this game again. What's the point? If I punched myself in the face repeatedly it would simulate the feeling of drawing 3 times to one card while others draw 3 and beat me repeatedly.

Its like poker punishment.

Razz is the easiest game of poker to play, you couldn't be more off base with your post. It has the lowest variance, the highest win rate of all limit games vs non-experts.

think about that for a while. And thank you for maintaining the myth that Razz is brutal game.

Its like slow death when you're running bad. In Razz, you can raise it up into a field of bad players with A24 and they're calling with BROADWAY CARDS showing...

You improve on 4th street, bet and they all call. Then proceed to make a boat with your remaining 3 cards and lose to a guy with a Jack High high who started with some gem like 449. Its a feature of limit games where you can watch in slow motion, street by street as you miss you your 20+ outs against the winning hand 3 streets in a row.

I have never suggested it was a difficult game. Just an infuriating one.

I've semi-regularly played it online and I have a friend who hosts a poker tourny day a few times a year that regularly has a razz tourny. My frustrations with the game are from personal experience.

Note: I find MOST draw games somewhat irritating in general. For starters, they play slower. Second, where in Omaha or NLTHE or even 5cd draw... you know a significant portion of your hand at the first betting round. In the draw games, you see potential. SLOWLY, street by street, watching that potential go nowhere while simultaneously watching someone who starts 2-3 cards BEHIND you improve and pass you... I'm sorry, that is much more irritating to me then other forms of poker.

Because its only irritating for those who dont know how to play the game correctly, otherwise 90% of all fields - even the WSOP is as soft as a baby's bottom.

I think it's more a matter of having the proper attitude than playing well.

Getting the proper attitude will help you no end in high poker.
