I felt betting the flop on this dry board forces worse hands to fold and waiting till the turn to show some aggression might allow him to bet into me. Thoughts anyone? </font>

First, I may bet that flop. Bet more on the river. He checked it all the way down to you, so he is probably sitting on a pair below an A that he wants to see a showdown cheaply with. Bet 550 or more if you ask me...if he is calling 350, he will probably call 550.

I like a bet on the flop. I don't think your hand is that great to be giving free cards. Value town. Especially because you say he's been loose.

Otherwise fine, like Adam said, I think half the pot on the river is better for value.

I bet the flop because I bet a lot of flops and if you aren't betting when you hit then cbetting becomes really exploitable.
Turn is fine.

I like the check on the flop for the reason the OP mentions

If you're beat you bloat the pot and when ahead you fold out 99-jj among other hands and get no more value against them

the pot is dry and a check is the smart play

Im with mflip, if your are planning on c-betting when you miss and checking when you hit you are going to be bleeding chips all over the felt.

I think here's one of those situations when you have to act in the most profitable way in the long run, not just for this hand.

Also I guess the intention is to give a free card, or at least make him think hes ahead when hes not, but with the Ace on the board he's not going to be giving you a lot of action with a lower pair.
