Middle East
We have chaos in the middle east, rising gas prices, stock market tanking and rising interest rates. Anyone else think that the odds of the senate focusing on an internet gambling bill is pretty slim.
Can these politicians really go back to their constituents and tell them that, although the world is coming to an end, at least people won't be able to play poker online anymore? I wouldn't put anything past these morons, but until the middle east situation (current upscaling of violence) resolves i would have to think this bill gets shelved. |

Re: Middle East
Bill Frist put the odds of getting the immigration bill passed this year at less than 50% due to lack of time getting the same House and Senate bill approved.
If an important national security measure like this is running short on time, it is disgusting they waste time on trying to get us not to play poker. |

Re: Middle East
Immigration is a hot political issue, with a lot of people weighing in loudly. Internet gambling is floating much lower on the radar. Many people probably assume that voting for this legislation will score easy political points, while the opposition may figure not much is to be gained by taking an active stand.

Re: Middle East
It's all about motivating the base to get out and vote, so instead of focusing on real issues, they throw out a bunch of shiny objects. Online gambling, flag burning, gay marriage...look at the shiny objects...pay no attention to that other stuff over there.

Re: Middle East
Yes, we need as much famine, plague and pestilence as possible!
Imagine the headlines: Hurricane Florence destroys Houston, spares Internet gambling |
