Default NL200: 3-barrel

Villain is a regular, 12/8/3. I'm running at 12/10/oo at this table, but I doubt he notices that. We haven't tangled much at all, and none today. Like/nolike?

I don't really like this at all...
standard continuation bet on flop is ok but when he calls what are you putting him on?
Hes likely calling you with a Q here or 77,66,99-JJ all of which beats you.
Betting turn is ok but I feel if you get a call here you must be beat. The 5 also completes the only draw out there as he could have 89.
River bet is not good as its only half of pot so if he has a Q he is not going to let it go for this price. If you really feel like you have the best hand check/call and give him a chance to bluff but I can't see him calling your river bet and showing A7 here enough which is the only hand you can possibly beat if he calls. Or letting go of 99-JJ for such a small river bet.

If you want to take this line then bet $100 on river giving him a tough situation where he could let go of 99-JJ

I can't say I haven't done this before - so I can't quite bash it. IMO Aggression is rarely wrong.....

But I still don't like this line much - only because there is so much out there and his smooth calls say he's either there on the flop - or drawing big. If he's drawing.....that river card probably got him there.

Hopefully - that spade scared him off his 89 and/or big TPTK or 2pair, which I'm sure is what you were hoping for, but his PF call doesn't seem to suggest the former.

OOP is tough. I'm running sooner. But I'll never bash raw aggression in a spot like this.

I'm intersted in hearing other opinions from all the nits who'll bash you - and can't wait to see the results.

c/f river

bet more if u are gonna bet. Your play is the worst possible choice. He never folds anything to that bet. 100% minus ev

if i am bluffing this river i am potting it. Also, i have tried these triple barrels, and in my experience they rarely work. i still do it, but only when i know my opponent very very well, and can place him on a specific hand, rather than going on instinct.

Yeah it's mostly the river I'm wondering about. I guess a bet of $90 or so is better, altho I probably wouldn't bet any valid hand that big against this (a thinking) opponent unless maybe the flush and I put him on a set. But on the other hand, he doesn't know that so.

Oh well, it worked out this time atleast. He folded. I'd say his range after he folds is mostly JJ, TT and AQ. Maybe a weaker Q aswell, like QJ.

If you really must bluff the river you should bet more than that.
